Features: From September 4 to 10, 2005, the 22nd World Legal Congress was held in Beijing and Shanghai. This international conference, jointly organized by the Supreme People's Court and the World Association of Lawyers, is highly representative and is known as the "Olympic Congress" of the world legal community. Following China's successful hosting of the 14th Congress in 1990, the world-renowned World Legal Congress was held again in China and achieved great success. President Hu Jintao met with the distinguished guests attending the conference, and multiple national leaders attended the opening ceremony and major events. A total of 1-500 Chinese and foreign representatives participated in this grand event. Among the nearly 500 foreign representatives from over 60 countries, there were more than 100 international dignitaries, including 34 chief justices or presidents of supreme courts, 4 ministers of justice, 25 associate justices or deputy presidents, and the main leaders of 6 international institutions and organizations. The Chinese participants were mostly outstanding talents who were proficient in legal theory or practice and had high-level foreign language skills, essentially representing the highest level of legal professionals from various industries and departments. In addition, more than 40 important legal figures from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan also attended the conference. Through the joint efforts of the World Association of Lawyers and the China Organizing Committee of the Congress, this edition of the conference focused firmly on the theme of "Rule of Law and International Harmonious Society." Through various activities and thematic discussions, it explored the profound connotations of the rule of law and its role and challenges in building a harmonious international society, reaching many important consensus, especially passing the widely influential and significant "Shanghai Declaration," which received praise from all parties both domestically and internationally and was hailed as the most successful conference in the history of the World Legal Congress. To commemorate the holding of the World Legal Congress in China and record its fruitful achievements, this book, "Rule of Law and International Harmonious Society," was published for the reference of legal professionals in China and readers interested in this grand event. This book is a compilation of the 22nd World Legal Congress, covering important speeches by leaders during the conference, a photo collection, introductions to major events, media reports, and the presentation of important achievements such as the "Shanghai Declaration." These materials provide readers with a wealth of valuable information and knowledge. Whether in terms of the authority and cutting-edge nature of academic papers, the richness of information, or the systematic, comprehensive, and organized layout, this book is highly readable.
