How is balanitis caused?

Patient's question:

At first, there were red spots on the glans with smooth skin. Three days after a single sexual encounter, the foreskin itched. In the afternoon, there was a heavy sensation in the genital area, itching inside the foreskin, redness of the coronal glans, a warm feeling in the penis, and an uneven, wet appearance inside the foreskin. How is balanoposthitis caused?

Doctor's answer:

Balanoposthitis refers to the inflammation of the glans penis and foreskin mucosa. It manifests as redness and swelling of the foreskin, burning pain, relief during urination, congestion and edema of the inner foreskin and glans, and in severe cases, shallow small ulcers or erosion with purulent discharge. Treatment can involve soaking in potassium permanganate solution and applying anti-inflammatory ointment. If it is caused by phimosis or a tight foreskin, after the inflammation subsides with general treatment, a circumcision may be performed. During this period, alternating use of Compound Ketoconazole Ointment and Fungizone Ointment is recommended. First, apply Compound Ketoconazole Ointment to reduce swelling and relieve pain, and then apply Fungizone Ointment.
