Wukong borrows the Jintai Treasure, the Golden-Hooped Rod, from the Dragon King of the East Sea but is sued by him and tricked to the heavens to become the stable attendant Bimawen. Realizing he has been deceived, Wukong returns to Flower Fruit Mountain and declares himself the "Great Sage Equaling Heaven." The Jade Emperor leads heavenly soldiers and generals to capture Wukong, but he defeats them and escapes back to the heavens. The film is vivid and fun, with lively and beautiful visuals.
