Is sexual desire and sexual intercourse disorder a manifestation of sexual dysfunction?

Patient's question:

I recently experienced a lack of energy and pleasure during sexual activity with my partner, and when I wanted to have sex, I often struggled with a long period of weak erection. Is this a sexual dysfunction? Are sexual desire and sexual intercourse disorders symptoms of sexual dysfunction?

Doctor's answer:

The penis cannot become erect or maintain an erection, or the erection lasts too long, making it unable to complete normal sexual life, or the penis cannot even insert into the vagina to engage in sexual intercourse. Premature ejaculation, also known as "impotence" and other terms, is the most common male sexual dysfunction. Occasional 1~2 successful sexual encounters do not necessarily indicate the presence of premature ejaculation. Only when the failure rate during sexual intercourse is below 25% can it be diagnosed as premature ejaculation. Male diseases tend to be recurrent, requiring long-term medication.
