Features: This book is primarily designed for candidates preparing for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT). The JLPT is a comprehensive examination evaluation system jointly established by the Japan Foundation and the Foundation for International Exchange of Japan (JICE). It targets non-native speakers of Japanese, aiming to test and recognize the Japanese proficiency of foreigners who have studied Japanese both in and outside of Japan. This test is currently the main standard used by the Japanese government to assess the Japanese proficiency of foreigners, and many Japanese universities and companies consider passing this exam as an important condition for accepting international students and employees. For convenience, this book is published in two volumes: "JLPT Mock Test Collection - Level 1" and "JLPT Mock Test Collection - Level 2." This book is part of a series that includes the previously published "JLPT Strategy - Levels 1 & 2," "JLPT Strategy - Levels 3 & 4," and "JLPT Mock Test Collection - Levels 3 & 4." The "Strategy" portion of this series focuses on the fundamental knowledge and scope of the exam, while the "Mock Test Collection" emphasizes practical practice and self-assessment before the exam. This book is based on a thorough study of materials related to the JLPT over the past 10 years, closely following the exam scope and various question types for Levels 1 and 2. During the writing process, we referred to recent exam questions, Japanese journals, newspapers, and other published materials in Japan, making the content rich and up-to-date. By using this book, candidates can reinforce and train their knowledge for Levels 1 and 2, strengthen their practice before the exam, and improve their pass rate. Up to now, candidates taking Levels 1 and 2 of the exam are required to read and comprehend 7 to 8 (sometimes more) articles of varying lengths. Level 1 long articles are generally around 700–1,000 words, while short articles are about 120–300 words. Level 2 long articles are typically 600–900 words, and short articles are about 90–200 words (other requirements can be found in the appendix). Due to space constraints, each mock test in this book only includes two reading comprehension articles, resulting in less reading volume than the actual exam. We believe that if you have mastered sufficient vocabulary, have a good grasp of the grammar scope specified by this exam, and understand the hierarchical relationships in the articles you read, solving reading comprehension questions will not be difficult.
