Features: This book is a research outcome of the "Reform Plan for Teaching Content and Curriculum System in Higher Education Towards the 21st Century" by the Ministry of Education. It is a 21st-century curriculum textbook and the "Nineth Five-Year Plan" teaching material for engineering mechanics by the Ministry of Education in engineering. At the same time, it is also a national key textbook for general higher education under the "Nineth Five-Year Plan." Its main features are: integrating and connecting the content of classical theoretical mechanics and material mechanics courses, introducing new content oriented towards the 21st century, concise language, compact structure, strong teaching objectives, and a shorter length. It strives to implement heuristic teaching, attempting to use a question-based approach to provide students with ample space for reflection. It emphasizes the cultivation of engineering concepts and the application of mechanics in engineering, fostering students' ability to establish mechanical models and solve practical problems through simplified and comparative engineering examples. This book covers the fundamental part of applied mechanics and is suitable for all engineering majors. The book is divided into two parts: Part I, Applied Statics, includes: Statics of Rigid Bodies, Strength, Stiffness, and Stability; Part II, Applied Dynamics, includes: Kinematics, Vector Dynamics, Fundamentals of Analytical Mechanics, Vibration, and Dynamic Strength. For shorter-term engineering mechanics courses, this textbook can cover all content except the starred sections. For fewer-term courses, only the content of Part I of this book can be selected for teaching. The book adopts a modular structure, allowing it to be assembled into various medium and shorter-term engineering mechanics textbooks as needed.
