Physics (Volume 1) (Third Edition)

Author: Liu Kezhe, edited by Zhang Chengjue
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2005-06-24
Features: This book is revised based on its second edition. The original book was part of the "21st Century Curriculum Textbooks" and the "Nine-Five National Education Commission Key Textbooks for General Higher Education." The "Physics" course taught using this book was awarded the "National Excellent Course of 2004." This revision aligns with the "Basic Requirements for University Physics Teaching in Non-Physics Majors of Science and Engineering" (Discussion Draft) formulated by the Teaching Guidance Committee of Physics Foundational Courses for Non-Physics Majors in Higher Education of the Ministry of Education in 2004. Based on the development and demands of modern physics, the content of relativity and quantum mechanics, among other modern physics topics, has been integrated into the textbook. This combines the new achievements of modern physics with its fundamental principles organically, while also adding knowledge related to celestial bodies and the universe.
At the same time, to facilitate teaching, this book retains the original textbook's features of being easy to understand, closely tied to teaching practice, and in line with teaching principles. The difficulty has been appropriately reduced. Accompanying this book are the "Study Guide for Physics (Third Edition)" and the "Electronic Teaching Plan for Physics (Third Edition)," as well as an online virtual classroom. Access to the virtual classroom can be obtained using the account and password provided on the learning card that comes with the book. The entire book consists of 20 chapters and is published in two volumes, with this being the first volume.
This book is suitable for use as a textbook for foundational physics courses for non-physics majors in science and engineering programs, with a recommended teaching time of 110–140 hours. It can also be used by students in other relevant fields, as well as by secondary school physics teachers for professional development and self-study.
