Patient's question:
Hello doctor, I would like to ask: Can acquired strabismus be treated? How long does it take to recover? Are there any good methods? Please give me some advice.Doctor's answer:
(1) Esotropia: Also known as cross-eyed. The eye position is inwardly deviated. Clinically, it can be divided into congenital and acquired esotropia. Esotropia that occurs from birth to early childhood is called congenital esotropia.(2) Exotropia: Refers to the eye position being outwardly deviated. It is generally classified into intermittent and constant exotropia. Intermittent exotropia occurs because the patient has good fusion ability, and the eye position can be maintained in a normal position for most of the time due to this ability. Only occasionally, under bright sunlight or when fatigued and careless, does the outwardly deviated eye position become apparent. It is generally recommended to visit a hospital for examination to determine the appropriate treatment method. Generally, the earlier the treatment is initiated, the better the outcome.
