Patient's question:
Will this disease relapse after treatment? How is acute orchitis best treated?Doctor's answer:
Testicular inflammation is usually caused by bacteria and viruses. Symptoms of testicular inflammation:(1) High fever, chills.
(2) Pain in the affected testicle, with referred pain in the scrotum, groin, and inguinal region.
(3) Swelling and tenderness in the affected testicle. If the inflamed membrane is ruptured, there may be a sensation of pus accumulation.
(4) Often accompanied by redness and swelling of the scrotal skin and hydrocele (fluid accumulation in the tunica vaginalis).
(5) In children, recurrent viral testicular inflammation may sometimes be accompanied by swollen and painful parotid glands.
Recommended treatment includes erythromycin-class antibiotics and metronidazole. Testicular inflammation tends to recur, requiring long-term medication.
