Introduction
Hu Linfu, male, was born in Yu County, Zhejiang Province in 1965. In 1982, he enrolled in the History Department of Fudan University in Shanghai. Upon graduating with a bachelor's degree in 1986, he was admitted as a master's student in the Historical Geography program at Fudan University, studying under the renowned scholar Professor Zou Yilin. In 1989, after completing his master's degree, he was assigned to the Historical Geography Research Office of the Institute of History at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. In 1997, he was promoted to the position of Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of History.
In September 1996, he was admitted as a doctoral student in the Historical Geography program at Fudan University (part-time), continuing to study under Professor Zou Yilin. His doctoral dissertation was titled "A Study on the History of Chinese Place Names." Upon graduation in July 1999, he received a Ph.D. in History. From March 1999 to October 2000, he served as the Director of the Historical Geography Research Office at the Institute of History at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
In late 1999, he went to the United Kingdom for an academic visit. Since the second half of 2000, he has been a postdoctoral researcher at the Postdoctoral Research Station of the Department of Geography at East China Normal University in Shanghai. His main social affiliations include: Committee Member of the Historical Geography Professional Committee of the Chinese Geographical Society and Council Member of the Chinese Administrative Division and Place Name Society.
