Features: This book is a research outcome of the "Reform Plan for Teaching Content and Curriculum Systems in Higher Education Towards the 21st Century" by the Ministry of Education, and is a curriculum textbook for the 21st century. The 21 experimental materials collected in this book were developed based on years of teaching pilot programs at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The purpose is to enable students to understand and initially practice the entire process of applying mathematics and modeling, using computers to solve real-world problems, thereby cultivating their comprehensive application skills and innovative awareness. The materials cover fields such as physics, mechanics, biology, economics, management, finance, and engineering technology. Through experiments, numerical methods, perturbation methods, simulation methods, operations research methods, and other approaches are introduced. Each experiment in the book is relatively independent and complete. Although the experiments differ in content and depth, there is no specific order among them. Users can either set up a course independently, using all or most of the experiments, or select several experiments to complement the teaching of a specific engineering mathematics course. This book can serve as a textbook for engineering majors in higher education institutions, as well as for science majors and general readers.
