Features: This book (Volume 2) is a supplementary textbook for the college mathematics series "Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics" under active teaching method reform. It is a companion to the book "Guidance and Problem Solutions for Advanced Mathematics" (authored by Huang Guanggu et al., published by Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and reprinted five times). The content is based on the "Basic Teaching Requirements" for undergraduate education issued by the Ministry of Education and the 2003 "Mathematics Examination Syllabus" for postgraduate entrance exams. Each chapter is structured by topic, facilitating both teaching and self-study. Each topic includes sections such as content summary, Q&A guidance, typical examples, teaching and learning suggestions, etc. Each unit includes a practice lesson, and the end of each part features a comprehensive final review (including mock tests, reference answers, and hints). At the end of the book, an appendix is provided with "Detailed Solutions to Past National Postgraduate Entrance Exam Questions on Probability and Statistics (Mathematics I-IV)." This book maintains the structure, style, and strengths of the "Guidance and Problem Solutions for Advanced Mathematics" (Volumes 1 and 2), and can stand alone as a separate book. It is also closely synchronized with the widely applicable, newly revised "Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics" (3rd Edition) by Sheng Chou et al. of Zhejiang University. Considering the difficulties readers may face in solving probability and statistics problems, solutions to most exercises in each chapter of the textbook are provided for readers to use as references when practicing. In the examples and exercises sections of this book, selected past national postgraduate entrance exam questions are included with analyses (or answers). For example, "(1999, I)" refers to the 1999 national postgraduate entrance exam question for Mathematics I, and the others are similar. The examples marked with "(2003, I)" at the end refer to the 2003 national postgraduate entrance exam question for Mathematics I, and the others are similar.
