Features: University Physics Experiment is a mandatory, standalone foundational course for students in science, engineering, agriculture, and medicine, as well as other disciplines. It is a crucial course for cultivating and enhancing students' scientific experimental skills and innovative spirit. Based on the current "Basic Requirements for Physics Experiment Teaching in Higher Industrial Schools" and the "Teaching Syllabus for Physics in Agricultural and Animal Husbandry in Higher Agricultural Colleges," and drawing on the "University Physics Experiment" lecture notes used for many years at Zhanjiang Ocean University, this book incorporates the outstanding achievements of physics experiment reforms and is rewritten according to the new teaching system. The guiding principles of laying a solid foundation, selecting high-quality content, facilitating teaching, and fostering innovation run throughout the book. While emphasizing standardized teaching, we also focus on strengthening the training of comprehensive and applied experiments, highlighting the development of initiative and innovative awareness. To meet the needs of quality education and innovation training, the following features are reflected in the writing process of this textbook:
(1) Computer simulation experiments are included. Our practice has shown that this will greatly enhance students' interest in experiments and their computer application skills, which is an innovative aspect of this textbook.
(2) The Chapter "Fundamentals of Measurement Error and Data Processing" systematically introduces the concept of error, measurement, and the processing of measurement results, serving as a fundamental and essential part of the experiment course. To deepen students' understanding of this content, the textbook includes targeted examples and exercises.
(3) In addition to arranging basic experiments in mechanics, thermodynamics, electromagnetism, and optics, the textbook strengthens modern physics experiments and comprehensive experiments, adding several design-based experiments. Through these teaching modules, students' experimental skills and innovative abilities are both improved.
(4) At the beginning of each experiment, the significance or historical background of the experiment is introduced to expand students' knowledge. After each experiment, practice and reflection questions are provided to help students further analyze, consolidate, and enhance their understanding of the content.
The writing of this book was greatly supported by all the teachers of the Physics Department at Zhanjiang Ocean University, especially Professor Zheng Bihua and Professor Tang Zhao. We sincerely express our gratitude to them. Due to limited expertise, there may be omissions and inaccuracies in the book. We kindly request readers to point them out for further improvement.
