Features: A Biography Series of Modern Chinese Writers. Eighty-year-old Jin Yong is a myth of our time. Some call him the "Saint of Literature and Martial Arts," others refer to him as Hong Kong's "Lighthouse of Conscience," while some deem him worthless. In reality, the media and the public perceive Jin Yong as a god-like figure. This is a biography of Jin Yong written with an eye-to-eye perspective. The author employs an objective and rational measure, based on a wealth of credible historical records, to present a real person—a remarkable wuxia novelist, a media mogul, and a controversial social activist. It faithfully recreates Jin Yong's difficult student life in his youth, the process of creating wuxia novels, and the establishment of the Ming Pao newspaper, revealing his footsteps of growth, the sweat of his struggles, and the threads of his thoughts. This book is the first to utilize original archival materials, uncovering many little-known valuable resources and correcting many inaccuracies in the accounts of Jin Yong's life. In this biography, you will encounter a Jin Yong beyond the pedestal, an ordinary person with all the emotions and desires of a mortal. You will find in him the joys and sorrows, the nobility and humility, the genius and mediocrity, and the modesty and arrogance of human nature. His ideals, career, and marriage reflect the twists and turns of history from various angles, while his thoughts and stories shed light on the subtle changes of the great era.
