Features: With the reform of teaching, the teaching process has also undergone significant adjustments. Notably, the sequence of course settings has been altered. Some schools arrange the practical training of mechanical manufacturing in the first year, which means the teaching of mechanical manufacturing precedes related courses such as engineering drawing. This reform is based on the idea of first recognizing practice before teaching related courses, aligning with the teaching philosophy of "practice before theory." However, this approach clearly increases the teaching workload of the mechanical manufacturing practical training segment. When students enter this practical training, they have almost no knowledge of mechanical manufacturing, which is even more pronounced among students in non-mechanical disciplines. Another feature of the teaching reform is the compression of traditional teaching segments in terms of time. Previously, the practical training of mechanical manufacturing for non-mechanical majors in various schools typically lasted three weeks, but it has now been shortened to two weeks, or even just one week, to accommodate the needs of newly introduced courses. Therefore, it requires completing teaching tasks with guaranteed quality and quantity within a shorter time frame, which also puts tremendous pressure on the practical training of mechanical manufacturing.
To address the above issues, the writing of this textbook is completely from the perspective of a beginner, striving to use concise and easy-to-understand language to clearly explain the essential knowledge and skills required for the practical training of mechanical manufacturing. It also incorporates knowledge relevant to the specific characteristics of non-mechanical disciplines, while also introducing CNC machining technology to keep pace with the rapid development of modern manufacturing technology and industry.
This textbook can be used as teaching material for non-mechanical majors in science and engineering colleges, including disciplines such as chemical engineering, petroleum, mining, and metallurgy. In specific teaching segments, the content can be adjusted based on the practical conditions of mechanical manufacturing training and professional needs.
To complement the use of this textbook, the author has also developed a theoretical examination software and question bank for the practical training of mechanical manufacturing. The author hopes to engage in exchanges with colleagues from various universities and welcomes valuable feedback.
