Patient's question:
This issue with hypospadias in children is really troublesome: My child underwent hypospadias surgery at 3 and a half years old. Now at 6 years old, he urinates 1-2 times every night. However, after falling on his buttocks the previous day, he now experiences enuresis 5-6 times every night. Could you please advise on how to handle hypospadias in children?Doctor's answer:
During abdominal embryonic development, the development and fusion of the ventral urogenital groove in male lower limbs are influenced by the pituitary gland and androgens. If androgen deficiency occurs, the fusion of the folds on both sides of the urogenital groove is impaired, leading to a defect in the anterior wall of the urethra. The urethra opens posteriorly to the normal urethral meatus on the ventral side of the male lower limbs, forming hypospadias. Hypospadias can be surgically treated in the urology department of a local regular hospital, and recovery is generally good after treatment.
