Features: This book is designed according to the basic requirements of signal processing principles for non-communication majors, primarily introducing the fundamental concepts of signals and the basic principles and methods of signal processing. The content includes: basic concepts and operations of signals, continuous and discrete-time Fourier transforms, discrete Fourier transforms and their fast algorithms, Laplace transforms, Z-transforms, and a brief introduction to continuous-time and discrete-time systems and their analysis methods, the basic principles and design of digital filters, and other methods. This book adopts a combination of theoretical derivation and applied analysis, emphasizing the mastery of fundamental principles and analytical and processing methods of signal processing for students. Accompanied by a certain number of exercises and experiments, it trains students' ability to solve practical problems by analyzing actual signals and systems in transform domains. By introducing some new signal processing methods, it cultivates students' ability to learn, understand, and master new methods and technologies using the knowledge they have already acquired in signal processing.
In terms of content selection, this book has made some choices. For example, considering the emergence of excellent signal processing tools represented by MATLAB, which can conveniently produce more accurate waveform diagrams, this book does not introduce the Bode plot method in s-domain analysis. The Walsh transform is also not covered in this book. The book has added brief introductions to other signal processing methods, such as the Discrete Cosine Transform, which plays a significant role in image compression, as well as active research and development methods in the field of signal processing in recent years—convolution homomorphic analysis, Mellin transform, time-frequency analysis, and wavelet transform, etc.
In terms of content arrangement, this book is not only suitable for teaching use at the China Central Radio and Television University but also for reference in teaching and research for non-communication majors. The prerequisite courses for this book include advanced mathematics, complex function theory, and others. To facilitate reading, the book provides brief explanations and interpretations wherever complex function theory is used. Chapters marked with "" are optional, and can be selected based on specific requirements. The book includes thought-provoking questions of varying difficulty, which are very helpful for understanding concepts and are specifically designed to reinforce learning. Detailed answers are provided at the end of the book. Each chapter is accompanied by exercises with moderate difficulty (those marked with "" are optional, while the rest are mandatory), and answers to the exercises are provided at the end of the book. Additionally, to help readers quickly find key concepts and terms in the book, an index is provided at the end.
