Features: The 21st century is an era dominated by the knowledge economy, a time of unprecedented acceleration in economic globalization, knowledge-based development, and informatization. Managerial economics is a branch of applied economics, serving as a bridge between economic theory and business management decisions. It is an applied theoretical course. This textbook focuses on introducing the fundamental theories of managerial economics. In line with the requirements of the "Tenth Five-Year Plan" for business management training—striving for "novation, practicality, and refinement"—this revision incorporates new explorations in our approach:
First, highlight the demands of the times. The knowledge economy is emerging, electronic networks are developing rapidly, and the rules of the game in business competition are changing. Chinese enterprises must follow the spirit of the "Tenth Five-Year Plan" to "seize opportunities and accelerate development" by adhering to new patterns and formulating new strategies to forge new paths and achieve new victories.
Second, emphasize a focus on national conditions, with the center on "reform and opening up, modernization, and the work we are currently doing." The cases selected for this textbook are primarily drawn from recent Chinese business management innovation award compilations, with abridgment and refinement. This will help overcome the reluctance to learn theory and the tendency to rely solely on textbooks, thereby enhancing the unity of theory and practice, learning and application, and words and actions, fostering a proactive and creative approach to work.
Third, highlight theoretical reflection, with an emphasis on "theoretical thinking aimed at addressing real-world problems." Managerial economics aims to create a shared theoretical platform for business management decisions. This revision does not theoretical completeness or systematicity but instead focuses on "rational thinking" and "analytical frameworks," striving to lay a foundation for improving the fundamental qualities of business managers and cultivating a generation of Chinese "intellectual capitalists."
This textbook is one of the series of business management training textbooks organized by the Training Department of the State Economic and Trade Commission and can also serve as a reference for teaching in business management programs.
