The "30 Days to Master the CET-4" series is a self-study book specifically designed for non-English majors (Public English) to achieve high scores in the "National College English Test Band 4" in a short period. The series consists of seven volumes: Vocabulary Prep; Basic Knowledge; Listening; Reading; Grammar and Vocabulary; Cloze, Translation, and Short Answer; and Writing. The main creators of the series are experienced teachers who have taught CET-4 and CET-6 for many years. They possess extensive teaching experience and effective preparation guidance, with their students achieving nearly a 100% pass rate in the CET-4 every year. The series also includes contributions from some top CET-4 and CET-6 test-takers, who have provided unique insights and shared their valuable experiences with fellow students preparing for the exam.
This book is the Listening volume of the "30 Days to Master the CET-4" series, covering the listening section of the National College English Test Band 4, and comes with an audio tape for self-assessment before the exam. The listening section accounts for 20% of the total score. Before June 1997, the listening comprehension consisted of short conversations (Section A) and passages (Section B). However, starting from June 1997, a new listening task—dictation—was introduced to replace the passages. Dictation includes two forms: spot dictation and compound dictation. In previous exams, the National College English Test Band 4 adopted compound dictation to replace passages in June 1997, January 1998, June 2001, and December 2002, among other occasions.
