Max Weber (1864-1920) was a famous sociologist and philosopher in Germany and a highly influential scholar in contemporary Western academia. The Economy and Society was published after his death, compiled and edited by his wife, Marianne Weber. It is called "compiled and published" because Weber did not leave a comprehensive structural plan for the book in his lifetime; additionally, the latter part, the "concrete" sociology section, was written before the former part, the "abstract" sociology section (according to the marked writing dates, the first part was written during the period of the Second World War from 1918 to 1920; the second part was written before the Second World War, approximately between 1911 and 1913). Therefore, in the preface of the first edition, it is stated that the order of the chapters had to be arranged and decided by Marianne Weber and her colleagues, and the unfinished chapters had to be retained as they were. Regarding the changes in the book's title, the compilers provided a detailed explanation and clarification in the preface of the publication.
