What are the symptoms of neonatal pneumonia?

Patient's question:

My baby spits up easily when drinking milk, and it's happening much more frequently than before. What could be the reason?

Doctor's answer:

Most symptoms of neonatal pneumonia are vomiting milk. When newborns are young, the symptoms of pneumonia are not obvious. Generally, there is no cough, and if the temperature does not rise, it may still decrease. Newborns may experience asphyxiation and vomiting milk, and these symptoms are significantly more frequent than before. If a child has these symptoms, they should be alert to whether it could be neonatal pneumonia. During pneumonia, the baby's respiratory rate increases significantly. During sleep, the respiratory rate of a newborn should not exceed 40 times per minute. If it exceeds 40 times, it can be preliminarily diagnosed as pneumonia. As the baby develops and exercises more during the neonatal period, the number of breaths will also decrease, usually to 20 to 25 times per minute around the age of one.
