Publish Date: 2003-10-18
Features: A series of emerging philosophy books, set against the historical backdrop and research theme of a series of new growth points and emerging branches of philosophy that have emerged in China since the 1990s. The guiding principle is to study emerging branches of philosophy using Marxist philosophy, while simultaneously enriching and developing Marxist philosophy through research on these emerging branches. The series is created by a group of research and teaching staff from the Department of Philosophy at the Central Party School of China, with the purpose of enhancing philosophy education, promoting academic exchange, and advancing academic development. It emphasizes both research and academic content while being accessible to readers. The series is aimed at the life world we have faced since the reform and opening-up and modernization drive, the gradually flourishing philosophical academia, and the topical issues of the times. This immature work is the result of research conducted over the past two years on the project "Public Philosophy as an Emerging Discipline of Philosophy" by the Department of Philosophy at the Central Party School of China. Previously, the author had intermittently conducted some research on public philosophy. The consideration of related issues was relatively scattered, but due to this project, the author dedicated nearly two years to studying these issues. After engaging in this completely new research project, the author has gained a great deal. The greatest is the concentration on some major issues with contemporary significance, arising from public life and social development. As required by the Department of Philosophy, the description and exploration of the issues in this book must reflect certain academic standards while also considering the textbook format. Therefore, the presentation of the content is; the selection of materials focuses on representative issues and literature. As for some complex content and details that are meaningful in theoretical research, most of them have been omitted. This approach aims to focus more on raising questions and, as much as possible, to gather these questions at a philosophical level. Without compromising the overall coherence and conciseness of the narrative, the author has strived to propose some of their own insights and, within the scope of their theoretical capabilities, to provide some critical comments.
