Applied News Writing (News Communication Book Series)

Publish Date: 2004-06-02
Features: This textbook, published in September 1996, won readers over with its practicality and was reprinted five times by 2001. The revised edition made significant modifications and additions based on the first edition, featuring three key characteristics:
1. It retains the original edition’s style of "linking theory with practice and emphasizing practicality," with typical examples and detailed analysis, aiming to reveal the essence of news writing through case studies. Exercises are provided at the end of each chapter, facilitating both teaching and self-study.
2. It more fully reflects the new developments in Chinese news writing over the past two decades. The reform and opening-up have fostered an unprecedentedly vibrant landscape in China’s news communication activities, with new concepts, forms, and styles sprouting up like spring bamboo. To reflect these changes, we not only discuss them in relevant chapters but also provide a macro-level description in Chapter 16.
3. To a certain extent, this textbook can also be considered a "methodology of news writing," systematically summarizing and introducing the fundamental requirements and methods of news writing, as well as the specific requirements and methods for different genres. Although "there is no fixed method in writing," innovation is valued, the successful experiences and methods of others can still offer valuable inspiration and guidance.
