How is orchitis treated?

Patient's question:

The right testicle hurts a bit when it sits down. I don't know what's going on. It hurts occasionally, but I can't be sure how to treat it. Is it testicular inflammation? Sometimes it suddenly hurts a few times, but no one knows what's happening. How is testicular inflammation treated?

Doctor's answer:

Common orchitis includes two types: non-specific and mumps-related, with the majority being bacterial infections. Symptoms of orchitis include:
(1) High fever, chills
(2) Pain in the affected testicle, with referred pain in the scrotum, groin, and inguinal region
(3) Swelling and tenderness in the affected testicle. If inflamed, there may be a sensation of pus accumulation upon palpation
(4) Often accompanied by redness and swelling of the scrotal skin and hydrocele in the scrotum
Treatment should be based on third-generation cephalosporins.
