Publish Date: 1999-01-01
Features: The cause of disability in our country has developed comprehensively and rapidly since the 1980s with the development of national economic construction and the implementation of reform and opening-up. The "Law for the Protection of Persons with Disabilities," formulated and promulgated in 1990, marks the gradual integration of people with disabilities into the legal framework. The currently drafting "Regulations on Rehabilitation" and "Regulations on Special Education" are clear examples of this. In the process of formulating China's Disability Law, the focus was primarily on China's national conditions, but it was also necessary to absorb and learn from the advanced legislative experience and techniques of developed countries. Therefore, the book "Disability Law" undoubtedly has a positive significance for the sound development and improvement of China's disability legislation. At the same time, the introduction of "Disability Law" to a broad Chinese readership will also play a certain role in helping people understand the disability protection status in developed countries, raising the awareness of the whole society to assist and support people with disabilities, and promoting the development of the disability cause. Additionally, to enable readers to gain a deeper understanding of the book's content, we have translated the two most frequently referenced regulations in the main text—namely, the "Law for the Severely Disabled" and the "Law for Treatment and Rehabilitation Appropriateness"—into Chinese and included them at the end of the book for reference.
