Patient's question:
I know I have this problem, but I haven't gained a specific understanding yet. What should I do if the glans is red and swollen and hurts badly?Doctor's answer:
Gonococcal urethritis initially presents with local redness, a sensation of heat and itching. Gonococcal urethritis is generally caused by infection due to dirty masturbation or insufficient hygiene in cases of phimosis, where unclean substances between the prepuce and glans lead to inflammation of the local mucosa. Clinical diagnosis primarily manifests as moist, red, swollen, and painful glans and prepuce, accompanied by symptoms such as urgency and dysuria after friction. If left untreated, the glans and prepuce may experience recurrent erosion and ulcers, along with creamy, foul-smelling purulent discharge. Severe cases may lead to gangrene, as well as prostatitis and infertility.
