Features: "Information Olympiad Tutorial" (Basic Volume) is designed according to the requirements of NOIP, NOI, and IOI, with algorithms as the main focus and problem analysis as the carrier. It is both profound and accessible, offering explanations of the fundamental ideas behind various algorithm designs and analyses of problem-solving, emphasizing algorithmic guidance and comparisons between different algorithms. It also provides specific programming approaches and reference programs, written in the popular Turbo Pascal 7.0 language used in information science competitions, with a focus on structure and readability. Additionally, it includes simulated competition questions to facilitate testing of students or self-assessment. "Information Olympiad Tutorial" (Basic Volume) serves as a training textbook for middle school students participating in IOI, NOI, and NOIP. "The Advanced Volume" can also be used as a training textbook for university students participating in international ACM competitions and as a reference book for students and researchers studying algorithm design. The National Youth Information Olympiad (NOI) and the National Olympiad in Informatics (NOIP) are major competitions for students across China, approved and organized by the Ministry of Education and the China Association for Science and Technology. They are held annually in all provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions, directly aligning with the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI). This competition has become one of the most representative forms of extracurricular computer activities in China, attracting tens of thousands of young people each year. The difficulty levels of NOI and NOIP are tiered: NOI focuses on improvement and has a smaller participant base, while NOIP emphasizes popularization and attracts a larger number of participants with a broader reach. Due to the extensive content of the NOI competition and the current IT textbooks not fully aligning with competition requirements, Hunan Normal University Press and the Organizing Committee of the Hunan Provincial Youth Information Olympiad collaborated with experts, professors, doctors, and outstanding coaches from the Hunan Provincial Information Olympiad to create "Information Olympiad Tutorial." This book summarizes the author's decade-long experience in training students for international and domestic information science Olympiads. The entire tutorial is divided into three volumes: "Language Volume" introduces one of the competition's designated programming languages—Turbo Pascal 7.0—focusing on its environment, statements, and program structure. "Basic Volume" is primarily aimed at students new to the competition, covering the development of international and domestic youth information Olympiads, competition rules and regulations, guiding principles, question-setting criteria, and educational philosophy of the Olympiad. It elaborates on computer fundamentals, algorithm overviews, simple data structures, and basic algorithm models to prepare students for NOI participation. "Advanced Volume" is tailored for students seeking to improve their competition skills, covering advanced algorithm design strategies, search and optimization techniques, graph theory algorithms, and dynamic programming applications. To meet the evolving needs of information science competitions, it also briefly introduces the Linux operating system, GCC, and Free Pascal programming environments. The entire tutorial, aligned with NOIP, NOI, and IOI requirements, remains focused on algorithms as the core, with problem analysis as the carrier, offering clear and in-depth explanations. It includes detailed discussions on algorithm design approaches, problem-solving analyses, algorithmic guidance, and comparisons between different algorithms, along with specific programming strategies and reference programs written in the widely used Turbo Pascal 7.0 language, emphasizing structure and readability. It also provides simulated competition questions for testing students or self-assessment. This tutorial serves as a training textbook for middle school students participating in IOI, NOI, and NOIP, with "The Advanced Volume" also suitable for university students preparing for international ACM competitions and as a reference for students and researchers studying algorithm design.
