What is a testicular cyst?

Patient's question:

Got married for two years and have been feeling a persistent, dull ache in the testicular area for a long time. Recently went to the hospital for a check-up and was told it's testicular cyst. I'd like to ask what this means?

Doctor's answer:

The most common type of testicular cyst occurs again in the head of the testis or epididymis because there are a large number of sperm, so it is also known as acute orchitis due to seminal fluid. It often occurs in patients with urethritis, cystitis, prostatitis, postoperative benign prostatic hyperplasia, and long-term indwelling catheterization. It spreads through the lymphatic system or vas deferens to the epididymis, causing epididymitis and orchitis. In severe cases, it can lead to testicular abscess and testicular infarction. Generally, testicular cysts are benign because the structure of the cyst wall is not inflammatory and chronic orchitis. The vast majority are caused by incomplete treatment of non-specific acute orchitis. It can also be caused by fungal, spirochete, and parasitic infections.
