Patient's question:
I seem to have varicocele. When the scrotum hangs down, the left scrotum is significantly higher than the right. I can feel a soft, fluffy mass inside the left scrotum, and sometimes even see the coiled veins inside. It doesn't hurt or feel swollen normally, but occasionally, after nocturnal emissions, there's a bit of a dragging pain. Usually, the scrotum hangs down very little and is mostly contracted. Does the above condition indicate varicocele? Is it severe?Past treatment history and effectiveness: None.
Seeking help: I'm only in my teens, and I feel a bit upset. Can a doctor help me? Is my condition something that needs treatment? How should it be treated? Please help me. Thank you.
Doctor's answer:
Asymptomatic mild varicocele does not require treatment.Non-surgical treatment: For mild varicocele or those accompanied by neurasthenia, report scrotum, cold compress, etc.
For severe varicocele, or those with sperm count below 20 million three times in a row or testicular atrophy; if the varicose veins disappear when lying flat, the inguinal internal vein ligation can be performed.
Varicocele can easily lead to infertility. In daily life, avoid standing or sitting for long periods, frequent intense exercise, smoking, drinking beer in moderation, and eating spicy or irritating foods. Avoid alternating hot and cold water stimulation in summer.
Additionally, for urological patients during treatment, their dietary condition and care are also crucial.
