Is urinary pain caused by prostate stones?

Patient's question:

Yesterday I went to the hospital for a thorough check-up and found that I have prostate calcification. Right now, I'm completely baffled. Is the difficulty and pain in urination caused by prostate stones?

Doctor's answer:

Urinary foreign body sensation is the feeling experienced by patients with urinary stones during urination. Clinical diagnosis of urethral stones is relatively uncommon. Most originate from the urinary system above the bladder, such as kidney stones, ureteral stones, or bladder stones. Stones may remain in the urethra or become lodged in the prostatic urethra, navicular fossa, or external urethral orifice during excretion. Very few cases are secondary to urethral stricture, urethral self-locking, foreign bodies, or urethral diverticula. Primary urethral stones are extremely rare. They are usually solitary stones. The disintegrated components of infected stones are predominantly magnesium ammonium phosphate.
