Jurisprudence (Volume 1)

Author: [USA] Pound
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2004-04-01
Features: Although Pound was already aware in his writings that the expansion of activities across political boundaries would lead to a shift in legal thinking, as he pointed out, "constructing a theory about the relationship between local legislation and local administration and the universal legal principles suitable for a unified world might become an urgent task for future legal scholars," we still need to set limits on Pound's rather vague prophecy: first, because Pound did not conduct further correlation analysis on the economic activities he referred to, nor did he explore the legal theory thus induced; second, because the nature of economic activities implied in Pound's view of "world law" determining the orientation of legal theory is highly questionable. This book is suitable for judges, lawyers, legislators, legal teachers, and students, and regardless of what these studentsed before studying law—whether it was philosophy, history, economics, political science, ethics, or sociology.
