Yin Xintian graduated in 1977 from Chongqing University with a degree in Industrial Automation Instrumentation. In 1981, he obtained a master's degree from the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Since 1981, he has worked in the field of patents, serving as the Director of the Physical Appeals Office of the Patent Reexamination Board, and as the Deputy Director of the Examination Business Management Department. He is currently the Director of the Copyright Department of the State Intellectual Property Administration. He has received training at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the German Patent Office, and the Federal Patent Court of Germany. In 1992, he conducted research at the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property Research in Germany, and in 1993, he attended the John Marshall Law School in the United States. Since engaging in patent work, he has published nearly a hundred papers and articles in various domestic journals and has authored over ten papers in journals in Germany, the United States, and Japan. Providing effective protection for patent rights is a crucial aspect of the entire patent work. The determination of the scope of patent protection and the assessment of infringement are closely related to the examination work of the patent office, and the two should form an organic whole. From the perspective of a patent examiner, the author of this book extensively and deeply explores the issue of patent protection, proposing many insightful viewpoints and valuable introductory reviews, making it rare among published works on the subject.
