Patient's question:
Married for many years without pregnancy, went for a check-up and found that my husband suffers from semen nonliquefaction. What is semen nonliquefaction?Doctor's answer:
Under normal circumstances, male semen is in a liquefied state immediately after ejaculation outside the body. Within a short period of time, it solidifies into a gel-like or clotted state. After approximately 10 to 30 minutes, the semen liquefies into a watery liquid. This process is known as semen liquefaction, and this phenomenon is a normal physiological occurrence. If semen is expelled outside the body and remains in a gel-like state for less than 30 minutes, it indicates a pathological condition, known as semen non-liquefaction.
