Features: Do you love writing software programs but hate database coding? "Hibernate: The Programmer's Secret Weapon" is exactly what you need. Database experts might enjoy tinkering with SQL, but you don't have to. The rest of the application is where the real fun lies. Moreover, database experts even worry about monotonous applications needing to put their SQL into a Java program. This book shows how to automate configuration with Hibernate: write some Java objects and simple configuration files, and Hibernate will automate all interactions between these objects and the database. This book won the 2005 Jolt Technology Book Award for Excellence in Programming! Do you love writing software programs but hate database coding? "Hibernate: The Programmers' Secret Weapon" is exactly what you need. Database experts might enjoy tinkering with SQL, but you don't have to—the rest of the application is where the real fun lies. Moreover, database experts even worry about monotonous applications needing to put their SQL into a Java program. "Hibernate: The Programmers' Secret Weapon" shows how to automate configuration with Hibernate: write some Java objects and simple configuration files, and Hibernate will automate all interactions between these objects and the database. You don't even need to know where the database is, and with just a few changes in a configuration file, you can easily switch from one database to another. "Hibernate: The Programmers' Secret Weapon" guides you through the use of Hibernate, from installation and configuration to complex associations and composite types. Two chapters explore how to implement complex queries: through a pure Java API or with an SQL-driven but object-oriented query language. One of the biggest surprises of using Hibernate is that for many common real-world application scenarios, you don't even need precise queries—but don't let that confuse you. If you've been intending to add a database to your application, don't delay—this is more interesting than ever before, and "Hibernate: The Programmers' Secret Weapon" will tell you why.
