Features: To facilitate readers in systematically mastering the knowledge system and detailed classification of VFP, this book introduces VFP through 14 chapters. Chapter 1 introduces the basic concepts of database systems, including information, data, database systems, database management systems, etc. Chapter 2 covers database languages and database management systems, providing a detailed explanation of the relational data model of databases, the three domains of information, and the relational model. Chapter 3 begins to introduce the fundamental knowledge of VFP, starting with the main features of VFP, including installation, user interface and operations, two types of working modes, and then moving on to the project manager. Chapters 4 and 5 cover basic table operations and the editing and maintenance of table records, including creating tables using the "Table Designer," establishing table structures, modifying table structures, entering, displaying, and modifying table data, the INSERT command for inserting records, and deleting table records. Chapter 6 introduces the methods for performing queries and statistics, indexing and sorting, and multi-workarea operations. Chapter 7 covers database operations, including opening/closing databases, adding/removing databases in a project, and using multiple databases. Chapter 8 primarily introduces structured programming: sequential structures, branching structures, loop structures, procedure structures, and memory variables, functions, etc. Chapter 9 covers object-oriented programming, starting from classes, controls, and objects, to creating and using classes. Chapters 10 and 11 focus on table wizards, form designers, and the methods for setting controls on forms, among other basic form operations. Chapter 12 introduces how to use the report wizard to create reports and perform basic operations such as grouping report data. Chapter 13 covers basic operations such as creating menus, modifying menus, and adding menus to forms. Chapter 14 introduces the new features of VFP7.0, providing an introduction to enhanced IDE (Integrated Development Environment) features for readers who wish to use VFP7.0 or are interested in it, as well as language enhancements, newly added functions, and powerful DBC (Database Container) events. VFP (Visual FoxPro) is an object-oriented programming language developed by Microsoft. This book adopts a visually rich and practical approach, combining numerous useful and diverse examples to explain object-oriented programming concepts in an easy-to-understand manner, enabling readers to gradually master the basic operations of Visual FoxPro and object-oriented programming techniques, as well as to independently develop small-scale application systems. Considering the learning process, the programming section is introduced in two scenarios: first, the procedural content is explained, followed by the object-oriented content. Building on the detailed explanation of VFP6.0, it also introduces the new features of VFP7.0. This book can serve as a teaching material for universities and colleges, a reference for various levels of exams, and can also be read by beginners in databases, database administrators, and system developers.
