How long after a right inguinal hernia surgery can one have another surgery?

Patient's question:

Patient Age: One year post-right inguinal hernia surgery. A few days later, the patient developed a left inguinal hernia due to blood draw. At the same time, the child also had bronchopneumonia and elevated myocardial enzyme levels. The condition has just been treated. Can the surgery be performed?
What kind of help is needed: I want to understand whether patients in this situation can undergo surgery.

Doctor's answer:

According to your child's condition, I strongly do not recommend surgical treatment for a 1-year-old child. Performing a hernia repair surgery on a 1-year-old is against principles, as the child's abdominal wall has not yet fully developed. Sometimes, a hernia may form, but as the child grows, the abdominal wall gradually improves, and most cases can be treated. It is recommended to use a hernia belt to cover the upper part of the left inguinal area to prevent the hernia from occurring in the weak area. As the abdominal wall continues to develop, the condition should be resolved without the need for surgery. Do not worry, surgery is not necessary.
