How should neonatal hard edema be rewarmed?

Patient's question:

The child developed obvious hard edema immediately after birth. And the doctor said that the method of rewarming should be chosen. However, they did not clearly tell us what to do. How should the rewarming method be performed correctly?

Doctor's answer:

Reheating is the key to treating infantile hard edema. The principle of reheating is to gradually restore body temperature. Do so gradually. At the same time, sufficient heat should be provided, and antibiotics should be used reasonably to control infection.
1. Mild and moderate: Rectal temperature is 30-34°C. Axillary-rectal temperature difference is positive. If heat production is good, the child should be placed in a 30°C incubator. The incubator is controlled automatically by the incubator's temperature control device or manually adjusted to 30-34°C. During the adjustment process, the temperature of the box should be raised by 1°C per hour to allow the child to return to normal body temperature within 6-12 hours. Primary healthcare units can use hot water bags, heated beds, electric blankets, etc., for warmth.
