Semen not liquefying post-surgery: How to care for this condition

Patient's question:

Post varicocele surgery, two and a half months later, the semen analysis was normal. Three weeks later, the semen analysis showed incomplete liquefaction. I want to know what causes the semen to be non-liquefied?

Doctor's answer:

Ejaculate liquefaction failure is commonly caused by conditions such as seminal vesiculitis and prostatitis, which lead to insufficient secretion of fibrinolytic enzymes by the prostate; deficiencies in trace elements (such as magnesium, zinc, etc.); or congenital absence of the prostate. It is generally believed that the secretions from the prostate and seminal vesicles contribute to the coagulation and liquefaction processes of semen. The coagulation factor produced by the seminal vesicles causes semen to coagulate, while the liquefaction factors produced by the prostate, such as protease and fibrinolytic enzymes, cause semen to liquefy. If inflammation occurs in the seminal vesicles or prostate again, it can disrupt the secretion of these factors, leading to an excessive accumulation of coagulation factors or an increase in liquefaction factors, resulting in liquefaction failure of semen.
