How to determine if it is phimosis or paraphimosis?

Patient's question:

These days, I've noticed something a bit off with my penis. I've seen pictures of foreskin in books before, so I thought it might be similar to my situation, but I also know it's not phimosis. I want to ask how to determine if it's just foreskin or phimosis?

Doctor's answer:

Males may again experience phimosis and paraphimosis, both of which are relatively common conditions and do not necessarily require surgical treatment. In terms of phimosis, the glans cannot be exposed in a flaccid state, but it can be exposed after erection. Paraphimosis, on the other hand, refers to a condition where the glans cannot be normally exposed in either a flaccid or erect state. If the paraphimosis is severe, it is personally recommended to undergo surgical treatment, as otherwise it may affect normal sexual life and physical development.
