What causes pediatric inguinal hernia?

Patient's question:

A few days ago, I went to my colleague's house for a visit. Their child is now 5 months old and is incredibly cute and adorable. However, a few days ago, they mentioned that the child has just been diagnosed with a hernia. I'd like to know what causes pediatric hernias?

Doctor's answer:

Children suffering from chronic cough, constipation, and prolonged intense crying can lead to abnormally elevated intra-abdominal pressure, pushing organs into the inguinal canal, resulting in hernia. Weakness in the inguinal muscles and fascia, insufficient barrier strength. Abdominal organs easily enter the inguinal canal, causing sudden hernia. Hernia cannot heal on its own. Surgery is the only treatment method. Because the greatest danger of hernia is incarceration, and the consequences of incarceration are more severe, hernia patients should be treated as soon as possible. Infants should undergo hernia surgery around half a year old.
