Patient's question:
TCM treatment for semen liquefaction? What are the causes of non-liquefying sperm or azoospermia? How to deal with non-liquefying sperm? TCM treatment for semen liquefaction?Doctor's answer:
Normal semen is in a gaseous state when emitted, but it quickly solidifies into a gel-like or clotted state. After about minutes, it vaporizes into a watery liquid. This process is known as semen liquefaction and is a normal physiological phenomenon. If semen is expelled outside the body and remains in a gel-like state for less than minutes, it indicates a pathological condition called semen non-liquefaction. The initial vaporization state of semen facilitates ejaculation, while its transformation into a gel-like state allows it to stay in the female vagina without easily flowing out. Subsequent vaporization enables the sperm in the semen to move freely, allowing them to swim along the female reproductive tract toward the fallopian tube, which promotes fertilization and the development of a fertilized egg. Therefore, if semen does not liquefy, it may lead to female infertility.
