What causes semen to fail to liquefy?

Patient's question:

Hello doctor, I am experiencing liquefaction of semen again. How does the liquefaction of semen occur?

Doctor's answer:

Ejaculate liquefaction failure is commonly caused by conditions such as seminal vesiculitis and prostatitis, which lead to insufficient secretion of fibrinolysin from the prostate; deficiencies in trace elements; congenital absence of the prostate; and other factors. The secretions from the prostate and seminal vesicles contribute to the coagulation and liquefaction processes of semen. The coagulation factor produced by the seminal vesicles causes semen to coagulate, while the liquefaction factors produced by the prostate, such as protease and fibrinolysin, cause semen to liquefy. If inflammation occurs in the seminal vesicles or prostate again, it can disrupt the secretion of these factors, leading to an accumulation of coagulation factors or an increase in liquefaction factors, resulting in liquefaction failure of semen.
