How to treat

Patient's question:

How to treat balanitis. What methods can solve balanitis? It has been troubling me for a long time and I feel uncomfortable mentally. I am looking for a solution.

Doctor's answer:

Red spots on the glans are a typical symptom of balanoposthitis, which refers to inflammation of the inner foreskin and the glans penis. A lipoidal substance normally secreted in the normal foreskin cavity can accumulate as smegma in cases of phimosis or excessive foreskin, irritating the foreskin and glans to cause balanoposthitis. The basic principles of Western medical treatment are anti-inflammatory and antibacterial. Generally, both topical and systemic treatments are used. For acute superficial balanoposthitis and annular purulent balanoposthitis, erythromycin and tetracycline are the first-line treatments. For trichomoniasis-induced balanoposthitis, metronidazole is the preferred treatment. For candidal balanoposthitis caused by Candida, itraconazole or griseofulvin is commonly used for treatment.
