What should be done about Down syndrome?

Patient's question:

Very thin, very worried, don't know what to do, please ask the doctor to explain well. We don't know which hospital to believe anymore! Thank you! Down Syndrome Examination Report; Chromosome count: 47 cells: 15 autosomes: 45 sex chromosomes 2 karyotype analysis: 47, XY, +21; Previous treatment and effectiveness: Newborn 25 days, mother's family history of thyroid disease.

Doctor's answer:

Down syndrome, also known as trisomy 21 and congenital idiocy, is characterized by a trisomy of chromosome 21 in cell genetics. It primarily occurs due to the failure of separation during meiosis in the formation of gametes or mitosis in the fertilized egg, resulting in the presence of an extra chromosome 21 in embryonic cells. Congenital hypothyroidism is a disease caused by insufficient synthesis of thyroid hormones. Its main features are three: intellectual disability, slow growth and development, and low physiological function. Congenital hypothyroidism should be diagnosed early and treated promptly to minimize damage to brain development. Once diagnosed, lifelong thyroid hormone replacement therapy is required; otherwise, prior work will be abandoned.
