Features: Whether for professionals or teachers, this book is truly world-class. It introduces "Object Thinking" and applies this concept in practical object-oriented analysis and design, covering how to think and design with objects, as well as how to create refined, robust, and maintainable systems. Developers and students can learn Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOA/D) through two case studies that run throughout the book, incrementally introducing key skills, the essence of object-oriented principles and patterns, UML notation, and best practices. Readers not only learn UML diagrams but, more importantly, learn how to apply UML in an object-oriented software development environment. Based on the highly acclaimed previous two editions, this edition has been revised to fully reflect the new UML2 standard, promote highly influential, iterative, and effective agile modeling practices, and help readers master object design, understand evolutionary requirements and use cases, domain object modeling, responsibility-driven design, the essence of object-oriented design, layered architecture, GoF design patterns, GRASP, iterative methods, and the agile approach to the Unified Process. The main improvements of this edition include:
● More focused on helping readers master OOA/D, discussing key object-oriented principles and patterns through case studies while applying UML.
● Covers UML2, agile modeling, test-driven development, and refactoring.
● Adds numerous techniques for combining iterative and evolutionary development with OOA/D.
● More accessible, introducing new learning aids and illustrations.
● Adds new teaching resources.
● Provides guidance on applying the Unified Process with a lightweight and agile spirit, supplemented by other iterative methods such as XP and Scrum.
● Adds techniques for documenting architecture using UML.
● Adds a new chapter on evolutionary requirements.
