Features: To objectively assess the English proficiency of individuals with equivalent academic qualifications and ensure the quality of degree conferment, in accordance with the "Regulations of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council on Granting Master's and Doctoral Degrees to Individuals with Equivalent Academic Qualifications" (adopted at the 16th meeting of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council on June 18, 1998) and the "Notice of the Office of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council on the Unified Examination for Foreign Language Course Level of Individuals Engaged in Full-Time Work Applying for Master's Degrees with Equivalent Academic Qualifications" issued in 1994, starting from September 1, 1995, individuals applying for master's degrees with equivalent academic qualifications must obtain the corresponding "National Unified Examination Certificate for Foreign Language Proficiency" as a prerequisite for obtaining their master's degree. The Foreign Language Proficiency Examination aims to strengthen the macro-control and standardized management of the grant of master's degrees to individuals with equivalent academic qualifications by the state, and is an important part of the national examination for assessing the foreign language proficiency of individuals applying for master's degrees with equivalent academic qualifications. In 1998, we organized relevant experts to compile and publish the "National Unified Examination Syllabus for English Proficiency of Individuals with Equivalent Academic Qualifications Applying for Master's Degrees." In 1999 and 2003, based on the summary of pilot experience, we organized experts to revise it twice, and the third edition was published in 2003. Over the past two years, based on the suggestions of a large number of candidates and relevant experts, and summarizing the experience of the unified examination, we organized experts from relevant aspects to revise this book for the third time. The revised syllabus (fourth edition) will serve as the basis for the unified examination questions for the English proficiency examination of individuals with equivalent academic qualifications applying for master's degrees in the coming years, as a reference for universities and colleges in related teaching and tutoring, and can also be used as a reference material for candidates to review and prepare for the exam.
