How is prostatitis best treated

Patient's question:

I am a college student. Besides classes, I usually enjoy playing computer games in my dormitory. I spend a lot of time sitting, and I also lack exercise. Recently, I've noticed that I can't urinate cleanly when I go to the bathroom, and there's also white discharge leaking out. After doing some research, I found it might be prostatitis. I'm still so young. I was wondering: How is the best way to treat prostatitis?

Doctor's answer:

Hello! Do you have frequent urination, urgency, or pain during urination? Based on your description; prostatic cysts are often caused by prostatitis. You may have chronic prostatitis due to incomplete treatment of acute prostatitis. Prostatitis can be either bacterial or non-bacterial. Therefore, when treating prostatitis, it is necessary to diagnose which type of prostatitis it is. The treatment for prostatitis requires effective antibiotic therapy, usually lasting 3-4 courses, followed by checking the prostatic fluid to see if it returns to normal. If it is normal, an additional week of treatment may be needed to stabilize the condition. After the prostatitis improves, the cyst may fully recover. Small cysts generally do not require treatment. Large cysts can be treated surgically. Personally, I do not recommend surgical treatment.
