How to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia well

Patient's question:

Prostate enlargement diagnosed last March, I haven't had any significant symptoms during that time. Recently, I've been feeling abdominal fullness, and urination has been intermittent. I always wake up at night, and during the day, I also feel frequent urination and urgency. Does this mean my condition has become serious? Please ask: How should I treat prostate enlargement?

Doctor's answer:

In the early stages of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), its etiology is often influenced by factors such as frequent sexual activity, chronic prostatitis, prostate hyperplasia, smoking and alcohol consumption, medications, endocrine imbalances, and increased male hormone levels. The early clinical manifestations are commonly seen as follows:
1. Frequent urination, especially increased nocturia, where patients may urinate 2 to 5 times or more per night, with increased urine volume;
2. Difficulty urinating, such as hesitancy, weak urine flow, and intermittent urination;
3. Hematuria (blood in urine);
4. Hypersexuality (increased libido).
If the condition worsens, it may lead to acute urinary retention, where the patient is completely unable to urinate. It is recommended to seek early medical evaluation, including prostate and endocrine-related tests. Additionally, it is advisable to avoid alcohol and irritating foods, prevent colds and flu, reduce sexual activity, and manage the condition to alleviate symptoms.
