How should one treat a itchy glans?

Patient's question:

I usually have the habit of masturbation. Recently, I noticed some small bumps on my glans, and the symptoms seem to be similar to balanitis. Is it serious? Is there anything wrong? Please ask: How should I treat it if I have itchy glans?

Doctor's answer:

When the glans penis exhibits abnormal symptoms again, such as itching, redness, swelling, or burning, it can be considered as being caused by an infection. Currently, balanitis is a very common disease in urology, and its causes can mainly be divided into the following two categories:
1. The glans penis experiencing a burning sensation
These types of balanitis are often caused by phimosis or excessive prepuce. The accumulation of secretions within the prepuce leads to the formation of smegma. Bacterial, smegma, and urine irritation, or in rare cases, mechanical injury, often cause the prepuce to become red and swollen, with yellowish discharge leaking out. When the prepuce is retracted, the entire glans penis also appears red and swollen. This is a typical case of acute balanoposthitis.
