Patient's question:
This week, I've been feeling like I can't fully empty my bladder when urinating, and it seems like there's a lack of strength when urinating. The stream is very thin, and it even feels like I can't urinate properly. Is this condition related to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)? If so, please advise: What are the best treatment options for BPH?Doctor's answer:
Prostate hyperplasia is a very terrible disease because the prostate may lead to urinary toxicity in its later stages. In the early stage, mild intestinal obstruction occurs again in the urethra, and patients can still empty their urine on time, but the time it takes to urinate has become shorter than that of normal people. By the middle stage, the urethral intestinal obstruction is relieved, the urethral resistance is enhanced, and it is lower than the bladder's urination ability. Patients may experience symptoms such as frequent urination and urgency again, and the urine in the bladder cannot be completely emptied, leading to residual urine again. In the late stage, the urethral intestinal obstruction is severe, and the bladder's compensatory function is incomplete. Due to the increase in intravesical pressure, it is transmitted upwards to the kidneys, causing increased intrarenal pressure in both kidneys, leading to bilateral hydronephrosis, damaging kidney function, and ultimately resulting in chronic urinary toxicity.
